Evermore – Our Guide to Permanent Jewellery

The hottest trend in the watch and jewellery industry without question is permanent jewellery. A global phenomenon of couture, simple chain pieces of jewellery worn without a clasp or any form or fashion of removing the chain; yes, the chain is welded to the wearer! What comes with the concept of permanent jewellery as its popularity grows is a whole host of questions.

At Peter Jackson the Jeweller we decided to be one of the pioneers of permanent jewellery and offer the people of Lancashire and the Northwest the best permanent jewellery experience. ‘Experience’ is a word that has cropped up for us so many times, because the further we developed our permanent jewellery brand ‘Evermore’ and the facets that go with it, the more we realised that permanent jewellery is an experience.

The process of choosing the product, the reasons why, people commemorating a bond and getting the jewellery together and then the welding process itself. All of this is an experience unlike any other.

What is permanent jewellery?

Permanent jewellery is a beautifully simple product. Elegant chains of sterling silver, 9ct gold, gold-plated and platinum metals form our collection. The chains themselves are fine enough to not be intrusive to everyday wear but substantial enough to be strong. Classic chain types such as belchers and curbs are obvious options, but more fun links in the shapes of hearts or other motifs are a popular option.

Permanent jewellery is wearable in different ways too. Bracelets are the ‘go to’ choice for many, but anklets for the summer will certainly hit the trend curve. Necklaces make a wonderful choice too, either shorter lengths for the full permanent jewellery experience or longer lengths to give the illusion of permanence, but you can simply slip the necklace off over your head. If you would like to go super fashionable, you could opt for the belly chain trend.

So, we have a choice of chain, metal, and ways to wear, but what makes it truly permanent? Well, it’s the welding of course. Each chain is cut to the perfect length and joined together by squeezing the snipped link or added a jump ring. Once neatly in place on the wearer the welding process is done in a flash (literally) and your new piece of jewellery becomes permanent.

But if it sounds daunting to you having a permanent piece of jewellery, do not worry. Unlike a tattoo or a piercing, permanent jewellery can be cut off at any time with a sharp pair of scissors and re-welding can be done again too. It’s simply as permanent as you wish it to be.

How does the welding work and is it safe?

The simple answer is it’s quick and completely safe. The welding machines used for permanent jewellery are small welding / soldering devices, far smaller than a standard fabrication welder and far safer to use.

The emitted weld is so small that it does not require protection of the eyes like a large welder and the spark is not large enough to catch fire. Pure Argon gas is used to help the weld be a smooth finish as it disperses oxygen and dampens the flash, from the small tungsten rod stylus. It’s the perfect combination of finishing and safety all round. Check out our showcase video on YouTube to see the process in action.

Checked on a regular basis, the welding machine goes through our strict protocols along with the argon gas bottle as we make sure it is secure and topped up. For our customers peace of mind, we also slip a small piece of leather between the chain and the wearers skin to ensure comfort throughout the process. We even have shades that you can wear, if you are light sensitive or have any fears over the light emitted.

With so many questions that can come with the wearability, we have a full FAQ on our Evermore page that can be found here. But the most common questions tend to be airport security and medical procedures.

As all our permanent jewellery collection is made from precious metal, you should have no concern over airport security. These metal types will not set off any scanners or stop you from easily passing through all security processes.

If you do have a medical procedure and you are required to remove the piece of permanent jewellery or it is cut off you, it’s no problem. Book another appointment with us and we can re-solder your permanent jewellery when the time is right.

Is Permanent Jewellery Bespoke?

Permanent jewellery is a bespoke experience, with the elements involved being produced for the wearer. From picking the style, wear options and size you choose, more fun can be taken with so much more that our Evermore collection bespoke.

A fabulous range of charms is a traditional choice to personalise your permanent jewellery. Little keepsakes of joy that means something to the wearer. Despite their size, they can tell a big story.

One thing that is on the rise with permanent jewellery is ‘connectors’. Connectors are a pretty hybrid way of displaying a charm like motif and are used in the fusing process of the piece of jewellery. Rather than simply welding the links or a bolt ring, connectors are used in place, to do exactly what the name suggests.

Some people love the dainty chains on offer and love seeing the welding process and the idea of made-to-order. But if you do not wish to have a permanent piece of jewellery, we do offer clasps. We are sure you will be delighted with the fun of Evermore whether you opt for a clasp or not.

Evermore permanent jewellery has been a wonderful journey for us at Peter Jackson the Jeweller. We hope you love our new brand creation and can’t wait to visit us in store to see the collection. But if you wish to buy the experience for a loved one, you can get them a gift voucher here and soon you will be able to purchase our Evermore collection online via our brand page here.

Spring / Summer 2024 Watch Trends

When it comes to achieving a ‘well put together’ look, your watch can make a huge difference. Having a timepiece you can reach for that fits in with your aesthetic can really help you achieve your desired look. This season is all about colour and throwback trends, combining inspiration from watch forums and celebrity inspiration, here’s what we think are this Spring / Summer’s trends.

Gold is back! The latest trend has been centred round yellow gold, this has been a major throwback from the 80s. It’s bright sunny appearance will be the greatest addition to your outfits this spring / summer. Its stylish revamp is supported by the quiet luxury trend and as we know gold has always been a symbol of luxury & sophistication.

If you’d like to feel super summery go for the Gucci G timeless collection. This collection associates with nature and all its beauty. A supermodels dream, Bella Hadid has also been seen sporting an all gold watch in an off the duty look as pictured. Our Raymond Weil Toccata Rectangle gold PVD plated, Champagne Dial Quartz Bracelet Watch Item code: 15 06 547 is a great match to achieve Bella’s take on the trend.

Continuing on the theme of Quiet luxury ladies dainty and timeless watches have been a huge trend, as seen on the likes of Kyle Jenner and increasingly more on celebs at the red carpet such as Timothée Chalamet with his diamond Cartier Crash at the golden globes.

Easy and versitile, we think this accessory is here to stay, Longlines achieve elegance in all of their designs and have a range of offerings for a lover of this trend. As seen on Jennifer Lawrence is the Longines Mini DolceVita Steel Quartz Diamond Bracelet Watch Item code: 930100471100012, a timepiece not only for this season but to keep for generations.

Milena Lazazzera the British Vogue’s luxury editor suggests there will be return of the ‘jewellery watch’ usually a slim bejewelled watch. Interestingly if we look back in history, the wrist watch was traditionally for men. Until, in the late 19th century the Countess Koscowicz of Hungary , eager to impress and stand out with a never-before-seen jewel, commissioned Patek Philippe to design the smallest possible timepiece to fit on a bracelet. This was the first wrist watch designed for women. We think the Raymond Weil Noemia 24mm Gold PVD Diamond Dot Quartz Bracelet Watch Item code: 15 06 093  will play the perfect homage too this trend with its use of Swiss movement, beautiful round diamonds and gold PVD plating.

Stand out and be bold!

Feeling wild? Jump onto the growing trend of interesting and unique dial, the perfect accessory to add character to your outfit! Ahead of the trend, Rado has released their Limited edition Rado True Round 40mm Open Heart White Ceramic Automatic timepiece. Limited to only 888 pieces in existance worldwide! This is an amazing stand out piece with an iridescent dial, that will surely be a conversation starter.

STORM have an amazing range of dial variations that stray from tradition. For summer our pick was this green into pink gradient dial, reminisant of fresh tropical vibes.

TAG Heuer have released their new smart watch special edition in collaboration with Malbon Golf. Its striking vivid green and yellow contrasting dial will surely make you stand out on the golf course. Whether you are an avid golfer or not this release is a watch fanatics dream.
TAG have also released a new Carrera model, the Skipper a 39mm leather chronograph watch. Featuring a beautiful combination of orange, teal, green and blue. Its appearance is inspired by the original model formed from Jack Heuer’s involvement with the world’s most historic yacht race in America’s Cup, as the official timing partner of America’s Cup boat ‘Intrepid’ in the 60s. What an amazing throwback!

Adding a splash of colour to every outfit this Summer with bright dial colours. Many watch brands have been competing with each other to achieve the most eye catching, colourful dial.
In light of last years release of Barbie the movie we saw the pink movement, TAG Heuer set the precedent in making the pink TAG Heuer Carrera Item code: 15 06 178, which was a huge hit for Barbie followers and watch collectors alike. If you’re looking for a rainbow of different colours to wear each day Citizens release of the TSUYOSA model is an exciting and affordable automatic watch that is available in an array of colours to pair to any outfit. Even one of our most traditional brands Raymond Weil offers a pop of colour in their ladies Tango model, this design comes in a lilac or pastel green shade. If you have a softer more feminine style this may be the watch for you.

Our 40 Year Celebration Wrapped Up With Ruby

This year , as we have been celebrating 40 years of Peter Jackson the Jeweller, we thought it was a perfect time to look back through the archives and reflect on how far we have come and how much has changed.

For those of you that remember when we used to print company magazines – this one’s for you!

We found an article from 2007 when the company was celebrating 25 years in business.

Peter’s daughter Ruby was asked about her favourite jewellery item and we just couldn’t resist a follow up article with her now, 16 Years later.

What have you selected?

“I’ve chosen a Canadian Arctic diamond pendant and a Ruby and Diamond ring (I just couldn’t choose between the two!)”

What makes these items so special?

“Being half Canadian and now living in Canada, I chose this Canadian Arctic diamond because it feels close to home (and it’s incredibly beautiful!)

I chose the Ruby because my name is Ruby so it seemed rude not to! 😊

Also, the Ruby is incredibly significant this year as my Dad’s company is celebrating its 40th Anniversary so it seemed like the perfect choice!”

A lot of time has passed since your first article feature, tell us what you’re doing now!

“I am 20 years old and am going into my third year of university studying business and psychology. I still miss England at times but I’m loving every minute of it!”

What are your thoughts on your Dad celebrating 40 years in business?

“I am so proud of my dad and the dedication he gives to both his business and his family. He set the bar very high for work ethic in our family and I thank him for that and all that he does for me”.

In her first article, Ruby said that she hoped that Santa would surprise her………who knows, perhaps this year he will!

A Guide To Citizen Red Arrows Watches

A relationship over 10 years old and still thriving, Citizen and the Red Arrows combine to create a collection of watches perfect for aviation and watch enthusiasts. Citizen, innovators revered for technology advancement in the watch world are the perfect partner to display the Red Arrows name and here is our guide to the collection.

The World-Famous Aerobatic Team

Red arrows display jets in flight over clouds

Founded in 1965 the Red Arrows is the world-famous aerobatic team of the Royal Air Force. Created to be the public face of the British Air force and inspire the next generation of servicemen, the Red Arrows is the most recognisable display team in the World. Having preformed in 57 countries in the distinctive red ‘Hawk Fast’ jet, the team of 9 nine pilots continue to dazzle at events all over the world.

Each pilot has extensive military front line experience with the Royal Air Force squadrons, and it is seen as being an honour to be selected to be a pilot of Red Arrows. Such is the lure and fandom of the Red Arrows that Citizen and stockists of Citizen watches such as ourselves, receive enquiries and sales from all parts of the world.

For any major military brand to sign their likeness over to a manufacturer of any goods, surely means that they believe in the quality of the products. With Red Arrows and Citizen Watches, we believe this is the perfect partnership and example of product to feature brand representation. With the purchase of a Citizen Red Arrows Watch, you will get a quality made, innovative, technology packed watch with the livery and branding of the Red Arrows to fittingly represent the Hawk Fast fighter jet itself.

Creation Of Citizen Red Arrows

The first Citizen Red Arrows Watch

September 2010 was the launch of the Citizen Red Arrows watch, so popular was this release selling over 10,000 units that it created the foundations for many generations of watches and still produced today. This first watch set the tone and showed the demand and appetite for such product was out there. Citizen to this day continue to create watches with so much tech for your money that savvy watch fans will not buy anything other than a Citizen watch, especially if they are spending less than a £1000.

The first Citizen Red Arrows limited Edition watch

Citizen later ‘tested the waters’ once more in November 2011 with their first limited edition Red Arrows model. Limited to only 500 pieces in a special display case with matching cufflinks, this watch again was a huge success. This time incorporating Citizens atomic-timekeeping eco-drive movement. Could you imagine if you had a pristine one today, what an amazing collector’s item to own!

Our own personal relationship with Citizen dates back to 1985, the days before computerised till points where every sale was handwritten but Citizen was inspiring the watch world with their amazing value products then. They invented their ‘Eco-Drive’ technology in 1976 and it’s amazing to think that thanks to their patent, no other watch movement with a power cell invented since has come close to this today. Even the big Swiss watch houses cannot produce a battery movement that provides the same reliability without breaking patent laws. We have seen Citizen continue to prosper and it’s been great to see the development of their Red Arrows collection.

The Current Red Arrows Collection

Modern Citizen red arrows limited edition watch in special display case

For 2023, Citizen has 9 watches as part of their Red Arrows collection all with different features and a mixed price range starting from just £279. Regardless of the model, the base of the movement before add-ons is built from the ground up using the Eco-Drive technology. Powered by any light (not just sunlight, artificial light too) the watches lithium-ion cell is constantly recharging providing a watch that never needs a battery change. Citizen is so confident of their Eco-Drive movements that all their watches regardless of price come with a 6-year warranty, amazing for watches of this price structure.

The Red Arrows collection, rightfully so, is curated with aviation and watch fans in mind. All the watches have some form of technology that is sure to wow research buyers. No one ever complains that they are not getting a lot of watch for their money. The base models at the very least feature ‘world time’, tracking 24 cities across the globe. They also feature other useful timekeeping tools such as a chronograph and the all-important Red Arrows branding and display case.

Moving into the higher price products, you find the kind of technology that any real watch geek loves to see, such as radio-controlled atomic clock synchronisation for superior accuracy; set your location and your watch will auto set the time, day, date month and year! Hugo Boss Womens Watches _ Buyers Guide

A watch is often the final considered piece of an outfit. Whether you want a watch for everyday wear or to mix it up with statement pieces, we’ve put together a guide to buying a ladies BOSS watch. From coloured stand out pieces to more petite minimalistic dials, there is a watch to suit everyone’s style.

A compilation of images featuring BOSS ladies watches.

Founded in 1924 Hugo Boss turned heads in 2022 with a full rebrand and we saw the separation of Hugo and Boss. Both sharing the same level of quality and design innovation with the main difference being the style. BOSS have introduced a new logo, aesthetic, and colour palette. Offering a bold, contemporary look the new BOSS has a more playful, laid-back aesthetic while still retaining their codes of dressing excellence.

With a new all-star cast presenting the Spring/Summer 2022 #BeYourOwnBOSS campaign featuring talents and personalities such as runner Alica Schmidt and models Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner. BOSS are sure to stay at the forefront of fashion and with that in mind we’ve put together the reasons why a BOSS watch should be your next purchase!

An affordable luxury brand, Peter Jackson the Jewellers ladies’ BOSS watches range from £149 – £269 and with our ‘pay in three option with Klarna’ you can spread the cost even more.

On Trend

A compilation of images featuring BOSS ladies watches.

With styles seen on the 2022 runways, BOSS are ahead of the trends with a watch to suit all styles. BOSS are sure to keep your 2023 wardrobe up-to-date. A timeless accessory that can be worn all year. BOSS offer bold, statement timepieces. From coloured minimalistic dials to mesh bracelets we love the range of quartz watches that BOSS have to offer.

BOSS introduced a camel, white and black colour palette as part of their 2022 rebrand. In-keeping with this colour scheme we love the subtle warm tones of the ladies’ ‘Breath’ rose gold tone bracelet watch.  A minimalistic dial is a fast-growing trend, the Breath watch is the perfect example.  Protected by mineral glass with a deep grey sunray dial providing the background, we love the complimenting rose gold tone hour markers and three hand movement. Attention to detail is key when it comes to BOSS watches and the Breath watch is no exception. The bezel is decorated with BOSS branding and light catching stone set markers ensuring you stand out from the crowd.

For someone who prefers a bold look why not add a pop of colour to your wrist with the ‘One’ gold plated bracelet watch with a stunning deep green dial. For a more subtle colour palette we love the champagne and peach tones of the ladies ‘Felina’, ‘Grand Course’ and ‘One’ bracelet watches. There truly is a style for everyone! While being fashionable may be key to some when looking for a watch, comfort for day-to-day wear is also important. All BOSS watches can be adjusted to fit your wrist comfortably at Peter Jackson the Jeweller.

The Perfect Accessory

Feminine chic; the ‘Hailey’ is an effortlessly elegant timepiece that is sure to dress up any outfit. The petite rectangular 28mm gold case features a minimalistic dial and pairs perfectly with the bracelet, necklace, and earrings. Hugo Boss Mens Watches _ Buyers Guide

Here is our guide to finding the perfect men’s Hugo Boss watch and why should you buy a BOSS watch from the world-famous German fashion house. Hitting the sweet spot of fashion focused but ready to wear for many occasions, Millennial style is the aim for BOSS by Hugo Boss and with this ethos, BOSS continues to be a big hit at Peter Jackson the Jeweller.

#BEYOUROWNBOSS

A full rebrand after 50 years, Hugo Boss set out in 2022 to re-invent themselves by distinctly redefining their BOSS and HUGO ranges. BOSS is the more luxury side of the brand and the watch range to buy if you want to enter the next price bracket. Whilst HUGO is aimed at Gen-Z.

Working with new ambassadors such as international TikTok star Khaby Lame, South Korean singer and actor Lee Minho, British professional boxer Anthony Joshua, Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini and Hollywood superstar Chris Hemsworth, BOSS have cleverly marketed themselves to be more recognisable and certainly a great reason to invest into their product.

Buying a fashion watch should make you feel good and on trend and if the branding is more recognizable, then your watch will get spotted and complimented more. Let’s be honest, the compliments make us feel good and proud of how hard we work to afford some luxury goods in our lives.

Affordable Luxury

Justifying that luxury purchase can be at the forefront of many men’s minds when making a purchase, often re-searching beforehand. When buying a men’s watch there is obviously a vast amount to choose from but getting it right for you is not always simple.

Firstly, for us, you have got to love the look of the watch! Hugo Boss being fashioned focus are ‘nailing it’ at the moment with clever plays of colour and shapes season after season. If GQ magazine is happy to put their name to BOSS products such as this one, the Steer GQ Men of the Year Watch, then you know you are investing in a great product.

Taking inspiration from powerful watch houses such as Zenith with their ‘Defy’ or TAG Heuer with their ‘Aquaracer’ you can find watches from BOSS with a luxury look and feel for less than £500.

Premium finishing is still there despite the price tag, any gold, black or colour tones used on the steel of the watches is produced with a PVD finish, the same as the big watch houses. PVD is a sophisticated way of plating metal and ensures the finish is a longer lasting enhancement to the metal. Again, for less than £500 and in some designs less than £300, this is providing products for great quality at excellent value.

Sporty or Classic

Buying a BOSS watch for any man can come down to tastes and how and where to wear the watch. BOSS have expertly curated a range of watches that fit the ‘sporty’ and the ‘classic’ looks and some that fit nicely in between.

Considering how and where you wear your watch the most often, would be a good recommendation in us defining your invested purchases. If you would like a watch to wear to work in a corporate environment with a more formal work attire, then the classic route maybe your best choice. But if jeans and a polo is going to be more your thing with your new watch then the sporty route will probably be your choice.

When buying any watch, especially if this watch is going to be your main wear piece, getting the style to match you the most is so important, and this will maximise your investment. Get it right then you know your intentions of wearing this watch often will easily be achieved, outfit to outfit.

Hugo Boss have been really clever with the BOSS range of watches, the classic pieces are more subtle, slimmer designs to meet the criteria of classic, whilst the sporty are bolder and play with ‘in-style’ colours and features.

Buying a BOSS Watch

All BOSS watches come with a branded display case and a 2-year international warranty, and we provide free shipping and gift wrap on all online orders. We also have a mixture of payment options too, with Klarna and PayPal allowing you to spread your payments.

Getting the purchase right the first time isn’t always possible, and if you order your BOSS watch and its not right for you, as long is it is un-worn, we can provide a free return service, and we will be happy to help find the perfect BOSS watch for you. Alternatively, you can visit our stores in Blackburn and Preston to try on any of the BOSS watches.

3 WAYS TO MAKE IT A VALENTINES TO REMEMBER

Just when you think the gift giving has calmed down, February approaches out of nowhere with the most romantic day of them all, Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is most commonly celebrated on the 14th of February and in modern tradition is a day used to celebrate and show ones love or affection for another individual.

Gifting on this day comes down to people’s desire to make this day as important as they want it to be. But we all agree, that in the drab month of February, any excuse to have a day filled with joy and love should be embraced.

So, whether you are searching for ‘Gifts for Her’ or ‘Gifts for Him’ we have some great options to gift this Valentine’s for your girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, or husband. With gifts ‘under £50’ or more ‘luxury goods’ we have plenty of options, or is now the time to think of a 2023 proposal? Here is our guide to ‘Make It a Valentines to Remember’.

‘LOVE HEARTS’

The history of the ‘Love Heart’ symbol is not the clearest to trace as to when it was first used and recognised as a symbol of love. Some believe that it dates to the Middle Ages with possible early examples or direct predecessors in the 13th to 14th century. But most believe it was popularised and tied to the history of the ‘Sacred Heart’, a Catholic Devotions, wherein the heart of Jesus viewed as a symbol of “God’s boundless and passionate love for mankind”.

A love heart symbol is without question, one of the most recognised symbols in 2023 across most cultures and society and as such is used frequently in messaging for all occasions. For Valentine’s Day, the love heart symbol is the perfect way of representing love for another by the gifting of an item featuring the symbol.

For the jewellery industry, the Love Heart has been a major feature in many designs of brands and traditional jewellery manufacturers. Never out of style, or defined by trends, Love Hearts are timeless and can be subtle features in a design or the centrepiece of many examples of jewellery.

Our browsing page dedicated to Love Heart jewellery showcases a great array of options. We have a beautiful selection of gold and silver pieces in bracelets, earrings, and necklaces; there really is something for all tastes.

‘POPPING THE QUESTION’

An engagement proposal is often tied to holidays or special days in the calendar and a Valentines proposal still proves to be one of the most popular. Expressing your love for someone with an engagement is truly romantic.

At Peter Jackson the Jeweller, we are here to help take the pressure off buying an engagement ring. With a great array of diamond rings to choose from we have a good starting point for anything you have in mind.

One question on many people’s mind when proposing is, “what if the ring is not right for my partner?” This is a perfectly normal question and one that we are happy to ease your fears with. We are always happy to exchange or amend the size of any diamond ring after your proposal. Getting engaged is meant to be one of the most special moments in your life and we want it to be perfect for you.

Let’s be honest, in 2023 branded goods play a massive part in our gift giving. Much of the world’s goods is fashion focused and designer goods often are reserved for a special purchase. Going the extra mile in a purchase isn’t always about price, it’s about quality too and here are some of our favourite brands keeping style and substance at the forefront for watches and jewellery.

BOSS had a big year in 2022 with a full rebrand that consisted of a new logo, new motif in ‘#BEYOUROWNBOSS’ and a complete overhaul of their designs.
