Baselworld has brought people together for many years, celebrating jewellery makers all over the world, in the home of luxury, Basel. Traditionally Baselworld was a ceremony to show off luxury timepieces that were due to be released, however in recent years Baselworld has seen an increase in smart watches over the years.

The watch world comes together to celebrate years of tradition and history, showing off their latest release in the timepiece world. It is also an opportunity to showcase incredibly rare watches, with the chance to delve deeper into each individual technological advancement. Baselworld 2016 saw more smart watches than there have ever been in the previous years and it is estimated to increase in the incoming years.

Top brands always show off their dominance in the watch market, producing dazzling timepieces and seamless collaborations with brands. However, there were a few surprises in this years Baselworld that captured the attention of the audience. With Baselworld representing the true wearable value of a watch, timepiece brands such as Bulgari, Chanel and Jacob & Co all showed off impressive debuts. The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T is now available for pre-order with Peter Jackson, the Jeweller. After recently releasing the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01, which is the foundation of the new collection, Heuer combined elegance and a contemporary style. The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T is a beautifully crafted timepiece, with a COSC-certified chronograph and finished with titanium and flying tourbillon.

TAG Heuer consistently produce luxury and elegance with each and every timepiece, symbolising the combination of technology, performance and expert manufacturing. The watch was developed using the inspiration from the TAG Heuer CH-80, alongside the chronograph (which is one of TAG Heuer’s strengths) in order produce a visually stunning timepiece.

The watch includes an impressive 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a single barrel and includes all of Heuer’s famous chronograph functions. TAG have also included an automatic winding mechanism, alongside a flying tourbillon, with an incredible diameter of 32mm. This produces a modern look, infused with the trademark Heuer style.

The framework was designed in the TAG Heuer’s Chevenez workshops, which saw 4 watchmakers hand-craft the ground breaking tourbillon. The tourbillon was inspired by TAG’s very own Monaco V4 tourbillon, made from a combination of titanium and carbon. The tourbillon is known to offer a power supply in excess of 65 hours.

Each and every one of TAG Heuer’s watches goes through 21 days of extensive testing in order to prove that it is ready for release. It also goes under moderation from the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronométres, or (COSC) ensuring that it falls under a high standard. The movement is the latest in a generation of movement, produced with a grade 5 titanium, making it more resistant and lightweight.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T is an example of the high standards they are setting in the timepiece world. The continued investment into the design and creativity, shows how TAG Heuer are going from strength to strength.

It is the first watch to utilise Intel Inside technology, as well as using over 150 years of Swiss crafting, and heritage.
