The latest generation of TAG Heuer CONNECTED watches is here. This time, 2 case sizes come into play and a great variety of finishes and strap textures, and colours arrive at launch too. 2015 was the launch of the first Connected smartwatch by TAG Heuer, yet most luxury watch brands have yet to dip their toe into the water of the smartwatch world. Maybe Tag Heuer’s brave decision to jump on the band wagon has paid off, as they have built a reputation for elevating smartwatches to ‘luxurious’ standards and scared off much of their competition.
TAG Heuer are known as real leaders of the Swiss watch market for their quartz and automatic timepieces at amazing value. They have continued this trend with their smartwatches too, providing high-end materials and finishes that other brands charge significantly more for when creating their own version of a luxury smartwatch.

CASE SIZE CHOICES
For this generation of Connected watches, TAG Heuer offer both a 45mm and 42mm case size. The 45mm is in line with the very popular last model launched in 2020, but this time it has a much sleeker appearance. The 42mm is designed for a more wearable elegant look. 316L Stainless Steel creates these cases with sapphire crystal, materials not often seen in smartwatches and the 45mm also has the option for a black DLC titanium grade 2 sand blasted case.
45mm Redesigned
A sporty size is the best way to describe the 45mm model, the large face of the watch makes it super readable whilst in the midst of your workout. With a strong ceramic bezel and more softer cuts to the design the watch flows more. We love how the bezel with certain face options blend into the design. A larger crown is more prominent allowing for easier use controlling the watch and the new push buttons have a great mechanical feel. It’s great additions like these that make the watch feel more like a traditional chronograph.
New 42mm Option.
Trying to promote the watch to a more mixed audience is difficult with just the 45mm size and it makes great sense for TAG Heuer to introduce a smaller size if the technology and cost allows for it. Tag Heuer describe the new size as being more sophisticated and elegant and we totally get that if you pair this with one of their leather straps. The look suits more formal settings of business meetings and evenings out, but swap out the leather strap for a brighter rubber one and it looks just as sporty. Plus this more streamlined size will work much better for ladies seeking a lux smart watch too.
WATCH FACES FOR ALL OCCASIONS
11 TAG Heuer watch faces have been curated. More faces can be downloaded over time and there are apps out there to acquire more, but if the watch is a TAG Heuer then you have got to have a TAG Heuer face to complete the look!
Designs range from super traditional TAG Heuer watch dial designs and chronographs, such as classic Carrera watches to more sporty faces specially made to utilise the technology packed into the watch. Being able to swap and choose between a traditional face and tech-based designs allows you to drastically alter the look of the watch for the right occasion and the style of strap you have paired to the case.
One new face which has been announced exclusively for the new 2022 range is the ‘Riverside’, an animated immersive effect that has a cool time-lapse. ‘Wellness’ is another new exclusive, formatted perfectly for your fitness goals, easily displayed on the home screen with a live heart rate and steps achieved.
Some of the best Connected faces have been re-commissioned, but this time they include new features to stay up to date with more technology that has grown in the Connected watches over the last 7 years. Easy to read panels provide key info to everyday life such as a five-hour weather forecast, activity time and wellness focused info, such as charts of steps taken per day are all integrated neatly into the face.
NEW TECHNOLOGY PAIRED WITH FITNESS
For a smartwatch to be successful, it’s a given that it has be your ideal fitness partner, keeping track of everything you do and pushing you to achieve your goals. The new apps built within come with pre-loaded workouts with an ample selection of exercises and pre-set lengths for all parts of the body.
Not only is the watch great for gym or home workouts, TAG Heuer have increased the tracking capabilities of the other core activities such as running (indoor and outdoor), cycling, swimming, walking and golf.
With extra fitness tracking comes extra industry-leading tech to enhance new features. To start with the new 45mm model has huge 30% increase to the battery life of its predecessor, this allows for more fitness tracking throughout the day. The screens offer industry-leading quality and contrast being more vivid, this will also include in strong daylight.
Google’s Wear OS 2 is the operating system of the watch and the new Wear OS 3 is expected soon with a free upgrade, which can be supported on Android and IOS devices. Connectivity between your devices and the watch is too enhanced thanks to the latest Bluetooth 5.0, the new wireless standard offers data transfer at twice the speed as before.
The latest charger of the watch is a new concept too based on two uses of display and charge. The unique display stand for the watch is a new chic design and at night it goes into nightstand mode, with a faint brightness displaying the time, seconds, and charge percentage. Integrated magnets on both the watch and stand allow it to easily snap into place.
